Its revolutionary structure for the time makes it possible to distinguish the sidewall function from the crown function. The Michelin innovation The first major Michelin innovation, the radial carcass tire was first ma rketed under the name "X" in 1949. Lancia was the first manufacturer to adopt the X as original equipment on its Aurelia model. From 1955, the Radial technology was emancipated and most European manufacturers adopted this solution. The X was then fitted to differe nt categories of cars: from the original and popular 2CV or Beetle to the fascinating Mercedes 190 SL or FacelVega.
